Mental calculation, without paper or a calculator.
Medhavadhanam is a public showcase where students do mathematics on stage with no paper, pencil or calculator. These are the methods they use: cube roots, fifth roots, squares, the day of the week for any date. Sreenivasa has taught them since 2005 and written about them for twelve years. Try two of them yourself below.

Try it yourself
Two drills you can try right now.
Cube roots and squares, three and five at a time. Type your answers, press the button, and see how many you got. Nothing to download and no sign-up; it all runs on this page.
The same methods the students show at Medhavadhanam. Ask about a seat if your child wants to learn them.
Sreenivasa's own column, 2005 to 2016
Twelve years of Mathematricks.
Sreenivasa wrote 24 instalments for the Sanghamitra magazine, for parents and children to read together. Each one takes a single technique, shows how to teach it, explains why it works, and leaves a problem to try. Read one and you will see how he teaches.
